Guide To Reward Type Credit Cards

Saturday, December 31st, 2005

The way a credit card offering rewards or bonuses works is quite simple. Each time you use your credit card, you are awarded a point. The number of points you’re awarded depends on the amount of your purchase. You can maximize the use of your credit card if you’re also able to pay off your purchases before it could incur high finance charges. If you don’t, then whatever reward or bonus you’ll be earning later on may just be equal to what you’ve paid the company for in terms of interest charges.

There are different types of rewards that are offered by credit card companies and it is certainly better that you choose one that would suit you best to make you more motivated when it comes to paying promptly. Some credit cards offer travel benefits as rewards. These benefits include but are not limited to free air travel, free hotel stays and rental cars.

On the other hand, there are other credit cards that target shoppers as their primary client. For these people, they offer cash rebates, discounts on their favorite stores as well as free items of their choice. If your credit card is affiliated with a gas company, for example, then naturally one of the rewards that you’ll receive is free gas for your car. This is not a bad bargain at all when you consider the soaring prices for gas.

To save and earn more using your reward type credit card then it’s better to remember that you should only use your reward type credit card for short term or cheap purchases which you can easily pay off before it can incur high interest rates. On the other hand, long term or expensive purchases are better charged to credit cards that do not offer any rewards but have lower ongoing APR.

Secondly, make it a point to shop as much as you can on the stores or brands that are affiliated with your credit card company because it will earn you bonus points that you may not get from other stores.

Lastly, if you’re just planning to get a reward type credit card of your own, do make sure that you get the highest amount of sign up bonus that you can.]]>

Some of the herbs like garlic, parsley, rosemary and cayenne you may associate more with cooking, but these plants also have medicinal properties that you can easily put to use by using them in teas, compresses and even as spices in your meals!

Some common healing herbs include:

Aloe Vera
The gel within this plant is reputed to heal wounds and other skin problems such as sunburn. It is also a strong laxative. The plant can be grown in your garden in tropical climates or on your window sill. Slit open the leaves and use the juice inside.

Cayenne
Cayenne is great for the circulation and it’s no wonder with it’s spicy bite! You can use it in your food, or if you are really brave, in a tea. You can also take it in a capsule. It is said that Cayenne will help to expedite the healing effects of other herbs.

Chamomile
This herb has many uses. In a tea, it has a relaxing effect and can sooth the digestive system. It is also excellent for the skin when applied topically in a cream or lotion. Many herbal soaps, shampoos and lotions include this herb which has been used since ancient times.

Have you built one of the most important pages that you can have on the web yet…

Thursday, December 29th, 2005

What is the about me page
Well it is just that, it is all about you, you can list whatever you want people to know about you. And it is hosted at ebay. If you have missed it then after you have read this article go to http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/georgeslater and click on the “create your own About Me Link at the bottom of the page. Everything else is then follow your nose.

Why is an About Me page so important?
If you are an auction seller, and lets face it that’s what most of use want to become because you only make money when you sell, then it is very important that we give the buyer everything they want from us to buy. And in most cases that is knowing who they’re buying from.

Why else is it important?
Well there is always the linking, the added trust that you get because you have a page on ebay and its just good to have.

Can I put up html or is it just text?
If you go to my link above you will seed that you can use pictures, links and html. No Java or anything fancy but enough to make the page interesting.

Can I copy you format?
No problem please just go right ahead. If you aren’t used to copying stuff of the web, it is easy just go to View on the menu bar once you are at my about me page, click view source. Then press the file button on the text editor that comes up and save the file, call it “About Me code”. All you have to do then is delete every thing from the top of the page down until this message: -

– **** Start of HTML from the template **** –

leave the text then until the next message

– **** End of HTML from the template **** –

but delete everything after. Now resave it. Then change the text that is left. You should be able to work out the bits that need changing. If not then just use the ebay online tools, until you’re a bit happier about changing html or you can get somebody to help you.

NB Honestly it is really easy to do. And here is another tip. Change the file name fromAboutme.txt to Aboutme.html, this allows you to see what effect your changes have. Then change back again.

OK the last thing is to put up your page.
As I said if you have not the skills in html then just use the standard on-line tools from ebay, not as pretty but they still do the job.

What should your About Me Page contain?
Well that is really up to you but I would suggest your name, address, phone number but not an e-mail address, otherwise you will get spammed. You will see from my site that I use a Contact Form. Also and very importantly your URL. Although this will not count a lot on your site listing with the search engines every little helps.

I hope that you have found this useful.]]>

Health And The Economy

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

The emerging world economy will ultimately place great economic stress on the United States. It already has. Thousands of jobs are being lost to overseas companies employing workers requiring a fraction of the wages demanded here. People in America increasingly try to maintain a standard of living through debt. This is great for all the banks popping up on almost every street corner, but bad for the people. Just in the past year there have been almost two million personal bankruptcies declared.

To compete in the marketplace, companies must keep their costs down. If that means shifting manufacturing elsewhere, that’s what will be done. India, China and other Eastern rim countries are the beneficiaries of this shift in manufacturing and labor pool. While American workers are clamoring for things to return to the way they were with high wages and generous benefits, workers in developing countries are happy as can be having a job for five dollars a day.

This trend will not go away with “buy American” banners or political rhetoric about treaties, minimum wages and outsourcing. The global economy is here to stay and that will mean the American standard of living will retract and the developing world’s will improve. Expect a decline in the standard of living, falling wages and investment insecurity.

Government is not the solution, since it produces nothing but only takes. Government saps an economy, it does not create it. The more that government is hands off, the better the economic vitality. A robust private sector economy (environmentally responsible), on the other hand, is not the enemy as it is so often portrayed, but is critical to financial vitality. Capitalism is not in itself a demon since it merely provides the mechanism for prosperity and with that the opportunity for a society to focus on matters of health and altruism. It works well if ambition and hard work, not merely greed, are its tools.

The inevitable decline of our standard of living is an inevitable and irreversible trend for the foreseeable future. It should concern us not because we want to see American super abundance continue, but because those who are unaware and get caught as casualties in this economic downturn will suffer in so many ways. The world is no longer business as usual.

Good health is not just about diets, supplements, organic foods and aerobics. It’s also about being safe, like driving carefully, not standing on the top of a stepladder, wearing safety glasses when chipping stone…and working hard, keeping our financial house in order and supporting societal choices that do the same.

Life is not surety, and neither is our economy. Nevertheless, hard work and prudent management will never be replaced and is as close to security as we can ever get. It, not entitlements and guarantees, is what ultimately creates the financial footing we need for good health and a sustainable, better and more peaceful world.]]>

Health Insurance Needs Worry Older Americans

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

The accounts would involve setting aside 1 percent of income to handle expenses not covered by Medicare, the federal insurance program for people aged 65 or older.

The survey also found that a majority of those interviewed expressed support for being able to buy into Medicare before they turn 65.

It Won’t Be Easy Without Health Insurance

Many older Americans are facing a bleak picture as they enter retirement. Not only do they often struggle with chronic health problems, but their wages are stagnant, health costs are rising and retiree health benefits are declining.

Fifty-three percent of respondents who worked or had a working spouse said they would not have job-based health benefits when they retired. According to researchers, 12 million older adults are currently uninsured or have had histories of unstable coverage.

It Takes Money To Have Health Insurance

Twenty-four percent of adults aged 50 to 65 said they have not filled a prescription, seen a doctor or specialist, or gotten a medical test or follow-up treatment due to the costs involved. more than one-third said they had a problem paying medical bills in the past year, or were still paying off medical debt from the last three years.

All of this is taking a toll on confidence. Only 15 percent of respondents aged 50 to 64 and 22 percent of those aged 65 to 70 felt they would have enough income and savings for retirement. Almost two-thirds worried they would not be able to afford medical care and health insurance in their later years.]]>

Health Insurance Rules

Monday, December 26th, 2005

To prevent this, health insurance companies typically designate one parent’s health insurance plan as the primary plan and the other as the secondary plan. (That’s why the patient questionnaire at your doctor’s office asks for information on primary and secondary coverage.) The primary plan is responsible for paying covered expenses up to the limits of the policy. If any unpaid costs are left over, the secondary coverage kicks in.

THE DATE OF BIRTH DETERMINES WHICH HEALTH INSURANCE PROVIDES COVERAGE

The birthday rule is often used to determine which plan is primary and which is secondary. Under this rule, the plan of the parent whose birthday occurs first in the calendar year is designated as primary. The date of birth is the determining factor not the year so it doesn’t matter which spouse is older.

Like most rules, the birthday rule has exceptions:

- If both parents share the same birthday, the parent who has been covered by his or her plan longest provides the primary coverage for the children.

- If one spouse is currently employed and has health insurance through a current employer, and the other spouse has coverage through a former employer, the plan belonging to the curently employed spouse would be primary.

- In the event of divorce or seperation, the plan of the parent with custody generally provides primary coverage. If the custodial parent remarries, the new new spouse’s coverage becomes secondary. And finally, the non custodial parent’s health insurance plan would provide a third layer of insurance protection. This order of payment can be altered by a court issued divorce decree or by agreement, but the health insurance companies must be notified.

THESE ARE JUST HEALTH INSURANCE RULES NOT THE LAW

Keep in mind that these practices are common among health insurance companies, but they are not governed by law. Practices may vary from one insurer to another. Read your policy carefully to make sure you understand how your insurance company handles dual coverage. If the policy coverage is unclear, ask for help from your employers benefit specialist or your insurer’s customer service department.]]>

Here’s Some Cellulite Products That Actually Work!

Saturday, December 24th, 2005

It’s important to note that medically, cellulite is not considered abnormal. Even so, many people don’t like the appearance of cellulite and would be happy to find a way to get rid of it.

As with any purchase, smart consumers do their research before deciding on a particular brand or product. Independent organizations such as ‘E-Consumer’ and ‘Consumer Health Digest’ provide reviews of products and services so that customers can make more informed buying decisions. Factors taken into consideration during the review are price, customer service, guarantee and return policy.

According to these analysts, a cellulite product called ‘Avotone Bodysculpt’ is the one consumers should consider. The reviewers find that it consists of high-quality ingredients and is very effective.

Significantly, the product is guaranteed to produce results in less than four weeks and comes with a 60 day money back guarantee. Avotone BodySculpt scored overall highest for quality, safety, success rate and customer satisfaction. The cost of this cellulite product is $69.95.

Another cellulite product highly regarded by the analysts is called ‘Revitol Cellulite Solution’. It is less expensive at $39.95 and, compared to the first product, scores almost as high for quality, safety, success rate and just as high in the customer satisfaction category.

‘Revitol Cellulite Solution’ has a longer period of guarantee - 90 days - and a higher customer service rating than the first product.

Consumer Health Digest, another consumer review service, identifies the 3 top cellulite products as ‘Extra Strength Lipo Sculpt Gel’ created by Sterling Grant Laboratories, ‘Ab Solution’ by VyoTech and ‘Transculpt’ by MedaBiotics.

These products, made of ingredients such as caffeine, vitamins and green tea extract, are recommended as low-risk, effective cellulite removal or reduction treatments. Price-related information was not rated.

For more in-depth information about cellulite reduction, there is a new book out written by a doctor called ‘The Cellulite Solution’. In it, Elisabeth Dancey looks at cellulite from a medical point of view, and offers recommendations to remove it.

Among other health-related topics, she explains why women are more prone to cellulite than men, the different kinds of cellulite and why even thin women have cellulite. Doctor Dancey provides advice including the proper combination of cellulite-fighting foods, exercises that target cellulite as well as aromatherapy, creams, and lotions.

It’s no secret that doctors recommend eating a healthy diet and keeping muscles toned by regular exercise. However, research has led to the availability of products and treatments that can reduce the appearance of cellulite and improve skin tone.

While these need not be discounted, it must be noted that not all products are created equally! A little time spent reviewing the consumer research will help you make a decision with which you are more likely to be happy.

High Risk Personal Loans - A Second Opportunity to Bring Your Credit Back on the Right Track

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

High risk personal loans are tailored to meet the personal needs and requirements of the UK residents who are suffering from the trauma of poor credit history. The loans are given the name “high risk personal loan” because the lender is exposed to a higher risk when lending money to such people as they may make default on the payment of the present loan too.

People get enlisted in the list of bad credit history due to some of their past mistakes such a default on the past loan payments, got bankrupt, became a victim of county court judgement or any unwitting act. Like normal people, people suffering from bad credit score too have desires and expectations that they wish to fulfill. High risk personal loan aims to fulfill the personal needs of the borrowers. You can use the loan money to buy a luxurious car, to go out for a holiday, paying medical bills, managing unexpected financial setback or for any other personal purpose.

Lending a high risk personal loan involves great risk that a lenders tries to cover by charging a higher rate of interest on the loan granted. Thus, a high rate of interest is attached to high risk personal loan.

People who own a property and have a bad credit history can apply for a secured high risk personal loan while tenants who do not own a property can opt for an unsecured high risk personal loan. Homeowners who do not wish to put their home at the risk of repossession too can apply for an unsecured loan.

If you wish to remove the bad credit blot from your credit report, use the loan money to pay off your existing debts and make it work to improve your credit score so that you could grab good loan opportunities in future. And now make sure you pay the high risk loan on time and in full to rebuild the broken history into a much better credit rating.

The entry of online lenders in the finance market has made it easier and convenient for the borrower to access the loan of their choice. Now, you just have to fill in an online loan application form available on the lender’s website with some of your personal and financial information. You will definitely get many loan offers from various lenders, but don’t choose any loan deal blindly. Don’t make a compromise while choosing the right loan deal it may get you into a deeper trouble. Do a thorough loan search; it will help you get the loan deal of your choice and that too with complete ease.

It was years ago when having a bad credit was considered to be a matter of shame. But, with years passing by, everything has changed people with bad credit history are popularly known as “high risk” people. Why to feel ashamed of being counted in the list of risky people when you can get a personal loan tailored to your needs. High risk personal loan, the loan made only for you.]]>

Higher Prices Lead to Higher Profits

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

How did you decide on your current pricing? Did you conduct market research to understand what prospects would pay? Or did you compare yourself to your competitors and base your price on that? Or was it a crapshoot, and random shot in the dark?

These are the ways most people do it, and they are all wrong. Because the price you set for your products and services is more important than you think.

The following few paragraphs are a bit number heavy, but stay with me because this will be really valuable for you to understand.

Let’s say you sell a high margin product - information products and software are two good examples. Your price is $60, and your costs are $10 - that means your gross margin (selling price - your costs) is $50 each time you sell one unit. Let’s say further that your overhead is $5,000 per month. If you sell 100 units you’ll break even, right?

Now you want to sell more, and decide you can take some business from a competitor by lowering your price - temporarily. You lower it to $40 - a 33% price cut, and not uncommon.

Your costs remain $10 and your overhead is still $5,000, only now your gross margin is $30 - 60% of what it was before. And how many units do you need to break even now? 166! That’s 66% more unit sales required to make up for the 33% price cut!

But what if you’re feeling very aggressive and you cut your price in half (also not unheard of) to $30. Now you have to sell 250 units - just to break even! That’s 2-1/2 times as many as before. How easy do you think that’s going to be?

Let’s use a different example - something that has real manufacturing costs. This time, your product sells for $100, and your cost of goods are $50 per unit, for a gross profit of $50. Same $5000 overhead, same number of units to break even. Now imagine you cut your price 20%, to $80, leaving you with $30 of gross margin. You need to sell 66% more units. Ouch!

What if you cut the price to $70. This 30% price cut means you have to sell 2-1/2 times more units - just to stay even.

Let’s go further…

Competition is really heating up and you think that matching them cut for cut is the way to go. The price for this amazing widget of yours is now a bargain basement $60.

(Shucks, that’s only 40% off your original price. Salespeople and business owners do this every day.)

How many units do you need to break even? 500.

Five hundred? That’s five times your original number.

Do you really think you can sell five times what you did before - at least without significantly raising your overhead and your variable cost of sale?

How many times have you done just this in response to competitive pressures?

How many times have you cut prices because you thought it would help you sell more?

:(:(:(

What we’ve just done is a simplified version of what’s called margin analysis, and I hope it gives you a glimmer of what can happen when you mis-price.

For the most part, your price cuts don’t automatically enable you to sell 66% more than you did before, and generally - at least not in this universe - you don’t sell 250% more, and never, ever do you sell 500% more with this kind of price cutting.

But there is some good news - and it’s very good.

Let’s look at what happens when you raise your prices.

Remember your high-margin product. It sells for $60 and costs $10 to make.

Through good product positioning and excellent marketing you raise the price to $70. That’s only a 15% increase. Now you only have to sell 83 units to break even, and if you sell the same 100 units, your profits go from $0 to $1000. Nice increase…

And that “hard” product - the one with $50 of costs? Raise the price tag 20% to $120, your margins increase to $70, and now your breakeven drops 71, and you make $2000 if you sell the same number of them.

See how this works?

:):):)

You can do this same analysis in a bit more sophisticated way, considering your marketing costs, sales or affiliate commissions, travel expenses if you have them, and so on. You can see the actual
pricing effect varies quite a bit depending on these details.

If you have a high-leverage, pay-only-for-results affiliate model, a very high gross margin and almost no fixed overhead, you have a lot of price flexibility. You can cut the price 25% and only need to sell 15% more! That’s not too bad at all.

But only in that type of model. If you have a office, some staff, and a physical product - in other words, fixed overhead - lower prices can kill you - and you won’t even see it coming.

And higher prices?

They can make you rich.

By now you are starting to see the tragic effects of mis-pricing on the downside, and the marvelously enriching possibilities of raising your prices.

This only works, of course, when you can also increase your value proposition…

Stay tuned for part 2.
